Hey Manvay,
Hope you are well. A gap year doesn't necessarily mean anything bad. People in industry always take breaks in order to pursue some other things that they like. Having said that, if you have a gap year, I would suggest you showcase something productive you did in that year and that should do it. Coming to transitioning to data analytics role, I would say focus on basic tools first instead of learning something fancy. I have helped 100+ people such as you transition to data science field. I would suggest that you book a LTM with me and I am sure I can help you prepare yourself in the best possible way. Cheers :)

A one-year break isn't a big problem. I've worked with people who had a four-year break.
To get into data analytics, practice medium-level programming in python and learn how to solve problems using SQL. And specific knowledge over database or etl tool.
It's better to work at small companies first, as big ones hire experts or new graduates.
You can schedule a practice call with me. I've helped people change careers even with employment gaps.

I would suggest start working on real life project, select a domain relevant to you and keep applying for jobs. You also need to prepare through mock interview as this question needs to be bridged during interview.
Feel free to book a trail session to discuss how we can co work to achieve this.
