Mentee Question

Asked by Harsh Vardhan

Sir I am currently in my 3rd year of Btech(IT) and till now did nothing to learn any language. Now I am lost as I don't know what to do and where to start. Please guide me or tell me some sort of roadmap so that I don't waste more time here and there.

Well, first of all stop worrying about what you have already lost and start focusing on what lies ahead and what is it that you can do.

  1. Learn an Language. - Java
  2. Start From Basics and Complete DSA. Follow sheets available in the market. You can use striver sheet.
  3. Build Some Projects (1-2 shall be fine)
  4. Build your resume.

These things should be able to help you and build a career. In case you want this path to be easy and someone there to guide you. Take mentorship, the ROI will be significantly higher.

All the best.

Hi Harsh,

Hope you are doing well. I did my Btech in EEE and I did nothing other than having backlogs till end of my final year. I would say it all depends on how much you learn and how much interest you have got to develop yourself in the market. There are multiple ways to proceed further in life and it all need to be discussed and confirmed with the path that you want to go with.

You can check my profile and if interested you can book your free trail with me and I can guide you on how to take things forward.

Hey Harsh, You are not very late. You still have solid 1 year before placements knock at your door. Please follow the below approach -

  1. Tell us what is your way of learning ? Watching videos or old school way of going through books?
  2. If you like watching videos, we can work upon platforms like Udemy and look for best beginners course for you.
  3. If you like books, based on your current knowledge , we can choose a book which quickly onboards to writing code.
  4. Once we have done that, we need to prepare a weekly schedule and follow the plan thoroughly until our goal of getting placed is met.
  5. Please hit me up to discuss further - https://www.preplaced.in/profile/naman-singhal.

Hi Harsh,

It’s better late than never. You can first start by checking on what career path you want to get started with. You don’t have to decide everything at the moment but you will have to start somewhere. Aim for one thing and work on the things that will help you get there!

Feel free to reach out to me in case you want more guidance.

Answered By Mentor Shiva Soni

For fresher, only thing matters is DSA & algorithms to get in top tech company. Don't waste time on projects/open source/portfolio building etc. etc. Once you get in good company, you'll learn these things on the go. Have look at my profile and see if you feel like I clarify your doubts more deeply and help you with roadmap to DSA proficiency.
